our visit to Liverpool Football club

Since Craig’s accident Liverpool football club who Craig as supported for a long time have been in constant contact with us sending memorabilia to him whilst in intensive care and on his birthday.

Today had took a lot of planning, being a female and a none football person ,its brought many challenges, no more than learning about football and its players prior to the visit.

The Liverpool visit was an ultimate experience, beyond all expectations.

From the moment we arrived Craig and our family were treated has VIP’s.

They spoke to Craig constantly not over him he was treated as any normal teenager.

As a special guest we had a private tour of the grounds and rubbed shoulders with some people my younger son had to point out were players…silly me!

Under the guidance of the tour guide and a player (Gerrard!) we had a fantastic three hour, and then were given tea and biscuits whilst we chatted like old friends, to other persons who again I didn’t recognise but my younger son did.

Craig had his photo taken holding the European cup which they took out of the display cabinet. Funny they just kept saying don’t drop it!! I wonder why…

WE were eventually left alone in the museum (disabled accessible) which was like rubbing shoulders with the legends, and a fantastic display of various trophies .My youngest son Stephen was fascinated with the old fashioned kop and the noises within it.

Craig loved the noise and the view .For the first time Craig appeared flabbergasted. He knew were he was and he looked at all the players’ shirts in the dressing rooms trying some on!

It was wonderful to see. For that afternoon Craig was with us again one hundred percent.

After thanking everyone for allowing us to visit, and for making our day memorable for years to come, Craig was then presented with a large bag of gifts, posters, framed pictures flag, etc

We said our goodbyes and were invited back when ever we wished.

The Liverpool shop was our last port of call prior to our journey home.

This was a sea of red shirts jackets flags everything and anything all in red.

Here we purchased item previously promised.

WE will never be able to express our thanks to Liverpool football club for the day we had , Craig was treated with dignity and as a normal teenager we felt like a family again…A day well worth the 2 hour drive

A memory we will cherish for life.
